SLEEPY HARBOR is a song I wrote about being up all night in the rain after missing the ferry to the Outer Banks when I was bicycling down the eastern seaboard in the fall of 1978. I really like the melody, and the lyric takes me back to that moment in time so accurately. It was not a vacation. I was traveling to get away from where I had been, or more accurately, who I had been, and I had nothing to go on. I was navigating on subtle hunches trying to find the foundation that I would base my life on. Being up all night was a vigil and the topic of prayer was to not miss the boat, so to speak.
