May these songs serve you well. I guess I should just let them go and trust that they'll say what they need to say to you, but allow me to introduce the two of you as if you're both friends of mine...

Mighty Ocean is one side of a long distance phone call from London. The bigger ocean was the emotional distance between us. I didn't expect that she would want to meet me halfway, but reconciliation can travel faster than airplane.

Chet Baker's Unsung Swan Song. Chet Baker was a great trumpet player and singer. No, I haven't seen the movie, but I read about him in the liner notes. Before he went out that window in Amsterdam, he may have had some last thoughts on how his life had been and why. Here, he sees his life reflected in the springtime images around him as the "tiny boat" of his recovery sinks one last time.

She's Just Dancing tells of one woman's solution after getting tired of being hunted like meat.

Last Chance Waltz is about fighting the dragons of the past - and winning!

Advertising Man is just my personal dissent against those looming toothy smiles that want to prey on my demise.

Covert War. Anger, like fuel, is useful for its power, but it is just as dangerous when stored around the house. (That is my father's metaphor.) We're learning...thanks for listening.

Top Of The Roller Coaster. Thanks to my friend Art for a great day of roller coaster riding on my birthday. Hang on, or better still, don't hang on!

Distant Water. A mirage of a shimmer of water looks so good to one who's that thirsty.

Let Them In was made into song by John Gorka from a poem found in a hospital in the Philippines during World War II. The nurse that found the poem kept it all these years until the recent war brought out all the memorabilia. Luckily, her daughter sent a copy to John.

Wildberry Pie. Yes, it's a song about sex, but it's also a kind song about a smile between lovers that celebrates real-life love.

(You Were) Going Somewhere. I see myself in this description all too often. Busily passing right by all the help from above while I'm searching for the past.

Farther To Fall. Just because the drop looks deadly, that doesn't mean you're any more likely to mess up. But tell your shaking knees that when you can't get your eyes off the rocks below.

Burgundy Heart-Shaped Medallion. We're always our own toughest critics, but in my life, I'm thankful for the eyes that see me whole. I thank God for the ride of a lifetime. Hang on, or better still...

It's an honor to send you another batch of songs. When the dots are connected song-to-song, the picture I see is Home Again. Although I often sing about where I'm headed rather than where I'm from, most of these songs are about facing the stuff that follows me when I run.  DW
